Today, August 18, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100/mt ($3-4/mt) in the Iskenderun and Karabuk regions from the previous day, while remaining unchanged in the rest of the country amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have kept at TRY 18,900-19,000/mt or $581-584/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 27.10.

Most Marmara-based mills are offering official rebar prices at $585-590/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S. and size unavailability is still an issue in this region as one mill stopped its production until the end of the month. In addition around 1,000 mt of rebar sale were rumored at TRY 19,100/mt ($587/mt) ex-works in the Marmara region yesterday, however it has not confirmed by the time of publication.

Bastug Metallurgy has opened its rebar sales at TRY 19,300/mt (593$/mt) at the current exchange rate today.

According to sources, a few mills might attempt to increase their export offers from $580/mt FOB to $590/mt FOB or higher by next week in order to balance their export rebar prices with the local rebar pricing.

As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
