Over the past week, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have remained stable in the local currency, while falling by $8-9/mt on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. "Production costs are really high, which makes us reluctant to decrease our list prices, while buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts," one source commented. In addition, one Iskenderun-based mill has set its equal angle price at TRY 19,650-19,960/mt ($622-632/mt) ex-works this week.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for late March-April delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 26,300/mt ($832/mt) for delivery to the Karabuk region.
