Traders avoid building up stocks in local Turkish structural steel market

Over the past week, domestic structural steel prices in Turkey’s Denizli and Izmir regions have decreased by TRY 15/mt, while prices in Turkey’s Karabuk region have declined by a higher margin on euro basis. Since demand has slackened further in the market, traders and producers are finding it difficult to conclude deals, while producers’ inventories are on the high side which makes it harder for them to continue their operations under the current market conditions. According to market sources, in the next few months traders are expected to conclude purchases only in line with the orders they receive, instead of building stocks. Accordingly, producers are expected to continue to carry large stocks, while this situation has already started to constitute a big burden for them.
