According to market sources, Turkish producers' mesh quality wire rod offers to the export markets have increased by $10/mt over the past two weeks to the range of $500-520/mt FOB, depending on tonnages.

Meanwhile, ex-Turkey wire rod offers to the US have softened by $10/mt over the past week to the range of $540-550/mt CFR FO US Gulf ports. Market sources state that demand for Turkish wire rod is fairly quiet in the export markets, and in particular buyers in the European markets are reluctant to conclude new transactions ahead of the Christmas holiday.

On the other hand, market sources report that, in recent deals scrap prices have increased slightly, causing wire rod producers to consider revising their prices again. If they decide to raise their prices, the market will watch with interest to see whether the new price levels gain acceptance from buyers in the coming period.
