Brazilian producers remain negotiating rebar for export to South American countries at $550/mt, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, a price stable over the last two weeks, a local market source told SteelOrbis.

In June, ArcelorMittal exported 40,300 mt of rebar at $608/mt, while Gerdau exported 15,100 mt at $493/mt, both FOB conditions, different quality grades and price deals probably closed in April.

Due to the lackluster performance of the Brazilian housing sector, local production of rebar was reduced and the focus has moved to exports, chiefly to neighboring South American countries.
