Nucor-Yamato to boost WFB prices for May

Nucor-Yamato Steel Company has announced to customers that wide flange beam (WFB) prices for May shipments will be increasing by $110 /nt ($5.50 cwt. or $121 /mt). 

Effective with shipments during the month of May, Nucor's raw materials surcharge (RMS) will be $393 /nt ($19.65 cwt. or $433 /mt), an increase of $147 /nt ($7.35 cwt. or $162 /mt) from the company's April RMS. 

Additionally, the company is decreasing its base prices for wide flange beams by $37 /nt ($1.85 cwt. or $41 /mt), resulting in a $110 /nt ($5.50 cwt. or $121 /mt) increase in transaction prices for May shipments. 

Nucor's fuel surcharges effective May 1, 2008 are as follows:  truck - 35 percent, rail - 26.5 percent.
