Effective with shipments October 13, 2010, Nucor Bar Mill Group's Raw Materials Surcharge (RMS) applicable to concrete reinforcing bars, merchant bars and structural products will be $178/nt ($8.90 cwt. or $196/mt), reflecting a decrease of $30/nt ($1.50 cwt. or $33/mt) when compared to the October 1, 2010 surcharge.
Additionally, the company will increase the base price for reinforcing bars by $30/nt ($1.50 cwt. or $33/mt), while the base price for merchant bars and structural products will remain unchanged.
The net effect of this move is that transaction pricing for reinforcing bars will remain neutral, while the transaction pricing for merchant bars and structural products will decrease by $30/nt ($1.50 cwt. or $33/mt).
