In a letter to customers late Wednesday, Nucor announced that effective with shipments on Thursday September 8, the published price for most merchant bar products will be reduced by $1.25 cwt. ($25/nt or $28/mt).
Nucor attributed the move to an attempt to “better align our published price list with market transaction pricing which has recently been impacted by lower priced import offers from Mexico, Turkey and Taiwan.” Nucor also noted “subsequent unpublished discounts offered to the market by our domestic competitors” in its explanation.
