The local Turkish rebar market has started this week with activity on the quiet side in terms of demand and transaction activity. After witnessing some lively transaction activity in the final days of last week, the Turkish rebar market has not seen much activity today, as it is the first day of the week. As traders' spot prices for rebar have not seen much of a change week on week in most regions of Turkey, market sources state that regular rebar deals for small tonnages are being concluded in the spot market. However, when comparing to the Turkish rebar market in the same period of previous years, transaction activity should be much better at this time of year, but currently activity is far short of the levels seen at the same time in previous years.
Meanwhile, Turkish steel producer Kardemir opened its domestic sales for rebar at the level of TRY 1,148/mt ($440/mt) ex-works, excluding VAT, but no demand has been received.
