In the past four weeks, the domestic price of Mexican rebar decreased around US$67/mt to reach US$545/mt ex-mill. However, variations in the market have been heard of around $5/mt on the low end and $15/mt on the high end.

Among other reasons, the increasing loss of the Mexican peso against the dollar, as well as internal discussions on security measures for the market of dumped imports have led this adjustment in the price.

Producers understand that competitive prices are necessary, especially when the construction sector has not offered a true revival. However, government officials insist the construction sector growing at twice the rest of the economy, according to SteelOrbis sources.
