The price of domestic Mexican wire rod increased a mere US$2/mt during the last three weeks, to reach $762/mt ex-mill.

Although the construction sector in Mexico began recording a recovery after two consecutive years of decline, industry sources are urging the government to deliver projects in catered to small and medium-sized companies.

Large infrastructure projects that were announced for Mexico in sectors such as road, transport, communications and tourism "still favor large companies," sources claim.

Nevertheless, the construction industry has accumulated two months of consecutive growth. During June and July, the Gross Domestic Product of construction grew 2.2 and 3.5 percent, respectively.
