Starting this week, prices in the local Turkish rebar market have continued to increase despite weak demand. Last week, Turkish producers increased their rebar prices for the domestic market, following the acceleration of their scrap bookings and their rebar sales to the export markets. As a result of this uptrend of producers’ prices in the Turkish rebar market at the start of this week, local traders have continued to increase their prices in the spot market. However, market players state that it is difficult for the new price levels in the spot market to gain acceptance the unless price increases are supported by an improvement in demand.
