According to market sources, Turkish producers’ domestic billet prices have decreased by $10/mt on the low end over the past week to $320-340/mt ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT. Meanwhile, ex-China billet prices for Turkey are at $282-283/mt CFR, while ex-CIS billet prices for the same destination are at $295-300/mt CFR.
Even though Chinese billet offers have maintained their competitive advantage in the Turkish market, billet offers from the CIS are now closer to Chinese offers. However, demand for domestic and import billet is still weak in Turkey and no new deals have been heard yet.
