Currently, domestic rebar prices in Italy are at €505-515/mt ($586-597/mt) ex-works, compared to the levels of €495-505/mt ex-works that were recorded two weeks ago. According to market sources, local producers are busy shipping products that were bought by Algerian buyers in past weeks, and consequently there is greater scarcity of material for the domestic market. For this reason, and also due to high production costs, Italian producers are still aiming at obtaining domestic sales prices at a minimum of €525/mt ($609/mt) ex-works.
