Jordanian rebar demand still decent

In this week's Jordanian domestic market, medium sized rebar prices are ranging at JOD 600-610/mt ($846-860/mt) ex-works on actual weight basis, including eight percent local taxes and for 30 to 45-day deferred payment. Prices indicate a decrease of about JOD 15-20/mt ($21-28/mt) as compared to early this month.

Rebar demand in Jordan remains decent due to continuing work on certain construction projects in the country and buyers' efforts to complete their bookings before Ramadan. In the meantime, deliveries to Jordan are no longer affected negatively due to the strife in Syria, after a long period during which they had been interrupted.

While no rebar offer has been heard lately from Turkey to Jordan, some steel billet transactions have been reported from Syria to Jordan at $610-620/mt CFR for July deliveries.
