According to market sources, even though availability shortages still prevail in the Turkish domestic billet market, prices have declined by $10/mt since last week to $525-545/mt ex-works. The shortages will likely last until May, while declines in import billet prices as of this week have put downward pressure on local billet prices.

Transaction levels for import HMS I/II 80:20 scrap in Turkey have indicated a decline of $10/m since last week to $380/mt CFR, while political tensions are still high in Ukraine, causing CIS billet prices to decline. Meanwhile, the latest ex-CIS import billet deal in Turkey concluded at the low level of $518/mt CFR has weakened the advantage of local suppliers.
