SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers’ price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:
Region | Price ($/mt) |
Marmara | 436-442 |
Thrace | 428-434 |
Izmir | 414-420 |
Iskenderun | 434-441 |
The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.
According to market sources, over the past two weeks domestic producers’ wire rod prices in the local Turkish market have increased by $8/mt in the region of Thrace and have risen by $5/mt in the Iskenderun region, while prices have remained stable in the Marmara and Izmir regions. However, the overall price range in the local Turkish wire rod market has remained unchanged in the given period at $422-442/mt ex-works. The upward price revision by some Turkish steel producers has mostly been due to the strengthening of the US dollar against the Turkish lira. Market sources state that demand for domestic wire rod has recovered slightly in Turkey over the past week and is now at medium levels, excluding the Iskenderun region where demand is weak.
