According to market sources, ex-CIS billet offers have remained stable over the past week at $340-345/mt CFR, for August shipment. However, demand for billet from the CIS region has weakened since Chinese billet export offers have decreased further by $10/mt over the past week to $310-315/mt CFR. Market sources state that CIS-based exporters are having difficulties in concluding transactions in Middle Eastern countries due to the ongoing month of Ramadan, while Chinese exporters have started to gain dominance in other target billet export markets.
