According to market sources, prices in the local Turkish structural steel market have remained unchanged during the past week. Local prices on Turkish lira basis were adjusted upwards last week against the backdrop of the strengthening of the US dollar to TRY 2.72. However in the current week the US dollar has weakened TRY 2.62 due to lower-than-expected retail sales in April in the US. Despite this, most Turkish structural steel producers have kept their price levels unchanged with the support of rising raw material prices. Market sources state that structural prices may be adjusted in the coming period, depending on the US dollar-Turkish lira exchange rate and the future trend of scrap prices.
