SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

RegionPrice ($/mt)
Marmara524-535
Thrace527-535
Izmir                                520-531
Iskenderun500-510

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

According to market sources, wire rod prices in the local Turkish market are in the range of $500-535/mt ex-works, excluding VAT, indicating an increase of $3-20/mt week on week. Recently, Turkish wire rod producers have been focusing on the export markets rather than on their local market, while their order books are full until the end of January. Demand in both the local and export markets is on the sluggish side. In the local Turkish market, wire rod buyers are cautious about concluding deals and prefer to maintain a wait-and-see approach due to the rapid fluctuations in the exchange rate with the dollar and the reflection of increasing scrap prices in wire rod prices. In the coming week, demand for Turkish wire rod in the local and export markets may recover if the exchange rate with the dollar shows greater stability.
