Over the past month, local Bulgarian longs prices have fallen by BGN 10-50/mt (€5-26/mt) for wire rod and beams amid sluggish demand and some mills are applying aggressive pricing policies. Rebar and merchant bar prices have remained unchanged over the same period. "Demand is moderate. Some mills are either on summer break or on their annual maintenance period. However, the anticipated lack of supply is not observed,” source told SteelOrbis.
In the import segment, most buyers are in the market, but there are hardly any fresh offers as most southern European mills are out due to the holiday period. A few Turkish mills are offering rebar at $555/mt (€505/mt) FOB, versus $600-610/mt FOB (€545-555/mt) FOB a month ago, while ex-Turkey wire rod is available at $565/mt (€515/mt) FOB, versus $615-620/mt (€560-565/mt) FOB a month ago.
In addition, ex-Turkey merchant bar offers are at around $655/mt (€595/mt) CFR Bulgaria for September shipment. A few Turkey’s merchant bar re-rollers are offering levels around $10/mt higher, SteelOrbis has heard. Moreover, ex-Poland and ex-Romania beam offers are available at $860-880/mt (€750-800/mt) CPT Bulgaria.
