The last negotiations for the export of rebar by Brazilian producers are still at $467/mt, FOB conditions, as the reference price for the CA-50, 10mm thickness product, a source linked to a local producer told SteelOrbis.

The source mentioned that such price represents the balance between domestic and export prices, as the demand from the local civil construction sector is very low, reflecting the poor performance of the country’s economy, but local rebar production was also reduced, so the supply/demand balance is maintained.

“Export for us is a matter of opportunity when there is a surplus,” he added.

In the Brazilian domestic market, rebar prices are at the equivalent of $730/mt, FOB conditions, no taxes included.

In June, Brazil exported rebar in average at $469/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in April, while imported the product $427/mt, FOB conditions.
