The stagnant market activity seen last week still prevails in the Turkish domestic wire rod market. Market players find it difficult to predict the trend of the US dollar-Turkish lira exchange rate and so are afraid of taking risks in the wire rod market, similar to the situation in the domestic rebar and billet markets. Accordingly, buyers are concluding deals only in line with their needs for the time being.
On the other hand, this week Turkish producers' wire rod export offers are at $660-670/mt FOB for June shipments, though these offers have not attracted much attention in the export market.
SteelOrbis has learned that current offers for mesh grade 6.5-8 mm wire rod in the local Turkish steel market are as follows:
Region |
Price |
Marmara |
TRY 1,470-1,490/mt ($684-694/mt) ex-works |
Izmir |

Iskenderun |

Wire rod prices for Thrace stand at TRY 1,450/mt ($675/mt) ex-works in Biga, Çanakkale.
The above prices are on actual weight basis. The dollar prices exclude VAT, while the TRY prices include VAT.
It is heard that lower prices are also available in the market for real buyers.
