On July 7, Hubei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation (WISCO) announced its ex-factory flat steel prices for August. The details are as follows:
1. HR coils
Common carbon HRC prices have increased RMB 240/mt ($35/mt), while prices for SPHC material are up by RMB 290/mt ($42/mt). After the changes, the price of 2.75 mm Q235 HRC is at RMB 3,800/mt ($556/mt), while that of 5.5 mm Q235 HRC is at RMB 3,740/mt ($548/mt).
2. Medium plate
Prices are up by RMB 350/mt ($51/mt), with the new price of 14-20 mm Q235 medium plate at RMB 3,778/mt ($553/mt).
3. CR coils
Prices have increased RMB 480/mt ($70/mt). Thus, the price of 1.0 mm Q195 CR sheet is at RMB 4,850/mt ($710/mt), while the price of 1.0 mm Q195 cold rolled coil is now at RMB 4,800/mt ($703/mt).
4. Galvanized coils
Prices have gone up by RMB 510/mt ($75/mt) for specifications below DX53, prices of specifications above DX53 have risen by RMB 350/mt ($51/mt), with prices for DX53 showing no change. As a result, the new price of 1.0 mm DX51D+Z is RMB 5,133/mt ($752/mt).
5. Color coated
July prices are still in effect, with the ex-factory prices staying at RMB 5,435/mt ($796/mt).
6. Silicon steel
Prices have seen a rise of RMB 650/mt ($95/mt).
7. Bridge plate
Prices have increased by RMB 420/mt ($61/mt).
8. Container plate
Prices are up by RMB 300/mt ($44/mt).
Prices have risen by RMB 200/mt ($29/mt).
All the above prices exclude 17 percent VAT and are effective as of July 7, 2009.
