Weak demand in local Turkish HRC market

Over the past week, prices in the local Turkish HRC market have increased by $30/mt on the lower end and by $40/mt on the upper end to $610-640/mt ex-works, due to the ongoing uptrend of flat steel prices in the global market. However, buyers have considered new price levels to be on the high side and have preferred to just monitor the market before concluding fresh deals.

On the other hand, spot prices in Turkey have increased by $10/mt for HRC and by $20/mt for HR P&O week on week. According to market sources, inventories in the market are low and liquidity problems are unsolved, while demand is still weak as buyers make purchases only to meet their immediate needs with the concern of declines in prices in the coming days.
