Sept. 6 data from the US Department of Commerce, Enforcement and Compliance shows that for the month of August, the US imported approximately 224,531 mt (license data) of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip from global suppliers, this marks an approximate 12 percent decline from levels reported in August 2015.

At current, HDG exporters in both Brazil and India have indicated that orders from US buyers are trending light.  Sources in India have indicated that while offer prices to the US for HDG coil continue to hold at $635-$650/mt FOB, interest from US buyers continues to trend light to do still-soft pricing conditions within the US domestic spot market.

Current HDG arrival tonnages for the month of September from Brazil to the US have been recorded at 1,059 mt.   Trader sources continue to report that HDG G40 coil is available to US buyers at $756/mt FOB, unchanged since our last report a week ago.
