US import HDG market resumes sideways trend

Last week, trader sources told SteelOrbis they’d resumed offering US import hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil to their customers, indicating that “they’ll continue to sell and ship until when and if they’re told they can’t.”

This week, in the absence of any further clarification with regard to the outcome of the Section 232 investigation, that trend has held stable.

Pricing, order activity and inquiries have remained steady, week-over-week, despite slight downward revisions in Chinese hot rolled coil (HRC) pricing.  It’s believed that Chinese HRC pricing will continue to fluctuate slightly for the remainder of the week; unless there is significant movement in either direction, traders say, it’s believed that prices for US import HDG and Galvalume coil will hold steady.
