The most commonly heard spot price transaction range for base price US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) may be steady since our last report a week ago, at $41.50-$43.50 cwt. ($915-$959/mt or $830-$870/nt), ex-mill, but sources close to SteelOrbis say that prices continue to trend flexible.
Volume buyers continue to report they are able to book deals below the average transaction range. Lead times are also unchanged, at six to 10 weeks, depending on the mill.
SteelOrbis sources say they have “no expectations that the market is going to crash, but at this point, it’s safe to say that no one is going to be doing any significant restocking until prices level off.”
