Prices within the US domestic and import cold rolled coil (CRC) markets may have held steady since our last report a week ago, at approximately $28-$29 cwt. ($617-$639/mt or $560-$580/nt), ex-Midwest mill, but the question on everyone’s mild seems to be when, where and if the ever-elusive trade case filing will emerge.
The rumors have been running rampant for months now; some thought the filing was going to happen toward the end of last year, while others thought the end of Q1 2015 would have been the magic time frame. Regardless as to the speculations, all those deadlines have come and gone. Offshore prices continue to be “quite competitive” against US offers, and although some traders are still booking some tons, others are being more cautious with where they’re booking orders.
