A source from a Brazilian exporter informed SteelOrbis that new deals for slab exports remain closed in the $350/mt to $360/mt FOB range, the same as last week, referring to the product of the basic commercial grades.

A second source mentioned that fresh sales were reportedly closed at up to $355/mt FOB on November 4, up to $375/mt on November 11 and up to $390/mt on November 16.

Such figures could point to an uptrend of prices, reportedly pushed in world terms by Chinese producers, although it is not clear if the higher prices could include quality extras for the material.

During October, for price deals probably closed in August, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) exported 130,500 mt of slabs at $322/mt, ThyssenKrupp CSA exported 121,600 mt at $349/mt, ArcelorMittal Tubarao exported 93,400 mt at $357/mt and Gerdau Acominas exported 39,400mt at $336/mt, all FOB conditions.
