Turkish steel plate market follows stable trend

Last month, no plate offers were heard from Ukrainian producers to the Turkish market, since Ukrainian steel producer Donetsk Metallurgical Plant (DMZ) was conducting maintenance works and other Ukrainian steelmakers Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) had already filled their export allocations. In April, Ukrainian producers have not given any plate offers to Turkey so far, though Ilyich production steel plates are being sold to the Turkish market via traders at $680/mt CFR, for May shipments.

Steel plate offers from Bulgarian steel producer Stomana to Turkey have decreased by about €10/mt ($13/mt) as compared to last month to €550/mt ($726/mt) CFR, while Macedonian producer Makstil has pushed up its steel plate offers to Turkey to $840/mt CFR, from last month's $820-825/mt CFR.

While the steel plate market follow a stable trend both in terms of demand and producers' price offers, no significant change is expected in the market prices.
