During the past week, demand in the local Turkish pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) coil market has continued to remain weak, while prices have not changed. PPGI inventories in the domestic market have been at low levels, while buyers have continued to postpone their purchases because of the summer period and the expectation that the decline in global iron ore prices will be reflected in flat rolled and coated steel prices.

Accordingly, the price of RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI has remained stable week on week at $960-1,005/mt, with the price of RAL 9002 0.5 mm still at $810-830/mt and the price of 1 mm RAL 9002 remaining at $700-745/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.

Meanwhile, demand has been sluggish in the export markets as well and buyers have postponed their purchases, preferring to stand back and observe the global markets. Turkish mills’ PPGI export quotations have remained unchanged week on week at $795-825/mt FOB.
