During the week ending April 19, average cold rolled coil (CRC) and cold rolled sheet (CRS) prices in the Chinese domestic market have continued to decline, while transaction activity in the overall market has improved and is now at medium levels. Average cold rolled product prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices declined significantly at the weekend, while ferrous metal futures prices in China have also softened, exerting a negative impact on CRC prices in the domestic spot market. With prices now considered to be at low levels compared to previous prices, some traders have started to purchase and transaction activity has improved. It is thought that CRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move down slightly in the coming week.
