During the week ending April 14, Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have continued their upward trend, while overall transaction activity in the market has been at good levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has issued its ex-works prices for May delivery, increasing its HDG prices by RMB 150/mt ($23/mt), and this has exerted a positive impact on HDG prices in the spot market. Meanwhile, buyers have been more willing to conclude purchases amid the rising market trend. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely edge up further in the coming week, though with limited increase margins.
