Stability in Italian flat steel market, orders on scarce side

In this week's Italian flat steel market, quotations have remained virtually unchanged from last week: hot rolled coils (HRC) are offered at €490-500/mt ($613-625/mt), cold rolled coils (CRC) are at around €575-580/mt ($719-725/mt), while hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices are standing at €540-560/mt ($675-700/mt), all ex-works.

Italian service centers tell SteelOrbis of confusion surrounding price levels in the domestic flat steel market. While some customers are willing to pay certain prices, others ask for larges discounts. In any case, orders are still few and far between, with buying activity mainly aimed at satisfying immediate needs.

Market players say it is very difficult to make predictions for September and that for autumn there are no orders yet.
