During the week ending July 27, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have seen a slight rebound for common carbon medium plate, though remaining stable for low alloy medium plate and shipbuilding plate, while overall transaction activity in the market has been better than in the previous week but still generally remains on the slack side. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the tables below.
During the given week, inventory levels of medium steel plate have decreased, with some products being in short supply, thereby providing some support for prices. Meanwhile, sentiment among traders has improved somewhat and some of them are now more willing to build up their inventories. However, approaching the end of the month liquidity is tight among traders, which makes it difficult for them to conclude purchases. It is expected that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week.
