The most commonly heard sales price range for US import cold rolled coil (CRC) from Turkey has ticked down a notch since our last report a week ago.  Sources close to SteelOrbis are reporting that currently heard prices are down “by about a buck,” adding that Turkish CRC is “absolutely available to US buyers at a sales price that’s below $32 cwt. ($705/mt or $640/nt.)”

Prices from Vietnamese sellers are also “still quite attractive,” other sources add.  The current US sales-price range for US import CRC from Vietnam from traders is unchanged and continues to hold in the approximate range of $29-$30 cwt. ($639-$661/mt or $580-$600/nt).  US Department of Commerce, Enforcement and Compliance shows that for the month of July, Vietnam shipped 46,999 mt (license data) of CRC to US ports.

As with last week, offer prices from both countries are still well-below US spot market prices, despite an approximate $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) dip domestic ex-mill pricing. The current average transaction range is now heard at $40.50-$41.50 cwt. ($893-$915/mt or $810-$830/nt), ex-Midwest mill.
