During the week ending October 9, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations in the Chinese domestic market have moved on a stable trend, while overall transaction activity has remained on the slack side. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the table below.
During the given week, transaction activity in the domestic PPGI market has been sluggish due to the National Day Holiday (October 1-7), while PPGI traders have continued to maintain a wait-and-see stance after the long holiday. Since PPGI sales were not as good as expected in the traditional peak month of September, inventory levels in the market are relatively high at present. It is expected that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will indicate a slight downtrend in the coming week.
