During the week ending January 12, the average prices of Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) have indicated a slight rising trend, while overall transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, ferrous metal futures prices in China have indicated a significant rising trend and, with the sentiment in the domestic HDG market back to positive, HDG prices have also moved up. Currently, the Chinese New Year holiday is approaching and demand continues to remain slack, which will exert negative pressure on HDG prices in the spot market. It is thought that the Chinese domestic HDG market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
