A distributor told SteelOrbis that Argentinian mills are offering discounts of up to 28 percent for pre-painted steel sheets within the domestic market.

A source confirmed most products in Argentina are being sold in December at discounted prices, including pre-painted and cold rolled sheets.

A source based out of Buenos Aires said it bought pre-painted steel sheets from a major steelmaker in November at ARS 28,300/mt ($2,182/mt). The same product is now being offered at ARS 22,308/mt ($1,720/mt), a 21.1 percent decline when compared to November’s quote.

Round, square and block forged steel are also being offered at lower prices, with discounts reaching up to 21 percent, a distributor added. In several cases, depending on the steelmaker, discounts reach up to 28 percent.

Argentinian major steelmakers include Gerdau’s Sipar, Ternium Siderar, and ArcelorMittal’s Acindar.
