A major steel distributor in Brazil’s southern region told SteelOrbis that he is selling CRC in the country’s domestic market at BRL2,360/mt ($901/mt), FOB, full taxes and levies except IPI tax, comparable to BRL2,350/mt ($900/mt) one month ago, adding that in case the 20 mt coils need to be divided in two coils for transportation, the price is $2,420/mt ($923/mt).

Meanwhile, the country’s imports of CRC in November reached 31,200 mt, 151 percent more than in October, reflecting not only the customs clearing of material held for some time in stocks at ports, but also fresh imports clearing customs.

According to the country’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC, the average FOB import price went down by 2 percent to $643/mt, pointing to material with up to 0.5mm in thickness at $616/mt, between 0.5mm and 1mm at $656/mt and between 1mm and 3mm at $629/mt.

The main origins of the CRC imports in November were Asia (up 167 percent to 25,700 mt, of which 21,525 mt from China, a 173 percent increase), Russia (up 156 percent to 4,800 mt) and the EU (down 46 percent to 500 mt).
