During the week ending April 17, the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has continued to see a slight upward movement. Transaction activity has remained at low levels though demand has improved a little compared to the previous week. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

In the past week, HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market have received a boost from rising semi-finished steel prices and from the prevailing bullish sentiment among traders. SteelOrbis has heard from traders that demand from downstream users has improved somewhat, though ongoing uncertainty among downstream buyers regarding the future prospects for the market has prevented downstream demand from indicating more significant increases. It is thought that local HDG prices in China will follow a stable trend in the coming week.
