Nucor Sheet Mill Group announced to US customers Thursday that to reflect its zinc costs, it has revised its galvanized coating weight extras effective for orders shipping the week ending November 1, 2008.

The company adjusted its galvanized coating extras downward by as much as $45/nt ($50/mt or $2.25 cwt.) for the heaviest coating on its lightest gauge product.

Nucor did not announce any official price decreases for base prices, but buyers say that they are anything but stable. One flat rolled sheet buyer in the US told SteelOrbis Thursday, "The real discount lies in the base price -- which is negotiable and all over the place these days."
