In the last three weeks, the price of Mexican domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) increased US$14/mt to reach US$654/mt ex-mill.

In the midst of an internal dispute between government officials and steelmakers, CRC has maintained its price level in line with international markets.

Still, sources can’t say that the price of flat steel is recovering, because the Mexican government insists on not encouraging protectionism, as it is also looking for other links in the production chain, said an industry source.
