In the last four weeks, the price of Mexican domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) fell US$29/mt to reach US$610/mt ex-mill.

CRC prices in Mexico are consistent with the global market, even though domestic demand from the Mexican automotive industry is better than ever. Mexican auto production in September reached 278,781 units, putting the accumulated total for the year at the “historic” high level of 2.5 million units.

Sources tell SteelOrbis that while higher demand can usually result in higher prices, imports and global price behaviors are having more of an impact in the industry.
