Mexican HRC prices fall despite mill attempts to firm

Mexican HRC prices fell US$20/mt in the last month to settle at US$688/mt ex-mill.

While steel industry sources were told last week that there would be an increase in prices of up to 6 percent due to loss in the exchange rate against the dollar, this week it appears that the volatility has had little effect to large industrial operations and even large distributors can support the sale price despite currency factors.

Overall, domestic prices of HRC are maintaining the levels of international indexes and the efforts of some producers to raise prices did not resonate in the market.
