Mexican domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) prices fell US$25/mt in the last month to reach US$903/mt ex-mill.

The price remains consistent with the behavior of international indexes, but producers are concerned about the volatility of the domestic currency and reports that the Latin American steel industry is importing flat products from China at prices 7 percent cheaper.

However, the depreciation of the Mexican peso may not affect the purchase of raw materials during the upcoming period of companies entering maintenance processes. But industrial sector sources claim that they are still affected in prices of finished products.
