During the given week, since semi-finished steel prices have increased in northern China and as finished steel prices have been rising in the futures market, bullish sentiment has prevailed in the domestic steel plate market, resulting in significant rises in steel plate prices. Meanwhile, inventories have been at relatively low levels, also providing support for steel plate prices. As for the coming period, steelmakers in northern China are due to carry out maintenance work, which will further boost sentiment in the steel plate market. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely edge up in the coming week.
