During the given week, although supply volumes in the steel plate market in northern China have declined due to production cuts made with the approach of the 70th anniversary of victory in the war against Japan, transaction activity has remained at low levels, dragging down steel plate prices. In fact, inventory levels of steel plate in the overall Chinese market have risen slightly, exerting a negative impact on steel plate prices in the spot market. It is expected that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely indicate minor downward corrections in the coming week, while subsequently the traditional peak season for business in September and October will positively affect steel plate prices.
