Over the past week, demand in the local Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil demand has continued to remain weak. Following the referendum held on April 16, buyers are expected to resume purchases which they have been postponing for a long while, while falling global flat steel prices have put pressure on Turkish domestic HDG prices. According to market sources, Turkish HDG transaction prices are likely to soften.
Domestic producers’ HDG prices in the local Turkish market are currently as follows:
Product | Price ($/mt) | Change ($/mt) |
HDG 0.50 mm 100gr/m² | 720-770 | - |
HDG 1 mm 100gr/m² | 685-710 | - |
HDG 2 mm 100gr/m² | 650-665 | - |
On the export side, due to declines in global flat steel prices, buyers strongly believe that HDG prices will move down and so they are postponing their purchases to monitor the market, resulting in weak demand. Meanwhile, Turkish producers’ HDG offers to the export markets still stand at $720-750/mt FOB compared to the previous week.
